ITA Diventare una geisha è un processo lungo e complesso che richiede anni di studio e impegno sin da giovani. Liza Dalby è l'unica straniera che è (quasi) riuscita a diventarla.

Liza Dalby è un'antropologa e scrittrice statunitense specializzata in cultura giapponese.

Nel 1975 si recò in Giappone per delle ricerche e approfondì l'affascinante mondo della geisha vivendo finanche in un'okiya (casa della geisha). Da questa esperienza trasse un libro, "la mia vita da geisha, dove racconta tutta la sua esperienza vissuta nel quartiere di Pontochō, a Kyōto.

In realtà Liza non divenne mai veramente una geisha, non avendo mai portato a termine il tirocinio, ma partecipò spesso alle loro esibizionj delle senza però ricevere compenso alcuno.

Saranno però gli stessi giapponesi a definirla "aoi me no geisha", la geisha dagli occhi blu.

Anche lo scrittore Arthur Golden la intervistò per documentarsi in previsione della scrittura del suo celeberrimo "Memorie di una Geisha". ❤️

Becoming a geisha is a long and complex process that requires years of study and commitment from a young age. Liza Dalby is the only foreigner who has (almost) succeeded in becoming one.

Liza Dalby is an American anthropologist and writer specialized in Japanese culture.

In 1975 she went to Japan for research and delved into the fascinating world of the geisha, even living in an okiya (geisha house). From this experience she wrote a book, "Geisha", in which she recounts all her experience lived in the district of Pontochō, in Kyoto.

In reality Liza never really became a geisha, having never completed her apprenticeship, but she often participated in their exhibitions without receiving any compensation. 

However the japanese people started to define her as "aoi me no geisha", the geisha with blue eyes.

Even the writer Arthur Golden interviewed her to get information for writing its famous "Memoirs of a Geisha". ❤️
